Driving directions: From Seattle head east on I-90. Take exit 54 (signed for Gold Creek), turn right and drive through Hyak Estates on Hyak Drive East, thru a gate and past a small sewage plant. Continue up the main Forest Service Road 9070 about 5.5 miles until the terrain flattens out in a large clear cut area. PCT trail cuts through here. Trail is off to the left/south. It is just beyond the other minor trailhead that goes off to the right to Mt Catherine.
Additional notes: Subtle turn up the hill to get to the saddle between Tinkham, Abiel and Silver; usually rock cairn on right side of trail around 4,300′. It is only about 1 1/2 miles to the turn up the hillside; easy to miss so be sure to keep an eye out for it.
